Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) has completed the construction of Phase Two of its rehabilitation center for homeless military veterans suffering from chemical dependency or mental health issues. This phase of the project adds 112 early treatment beds, a medical facility, an employment center and administration building to better serve those in need.

On September 16, 2009, VVSD hosted an "Open House" and unveiled a newly created mural honoring our Nation's veterans. The celebration included State Assembly Member Mary Salas, Mayor Jerry Sander and Councilwoman Marti Emerald.






Stand Down is an intervention that was conceived from the ground up specifically for veterans.

It is designed to transform the despair and immobility of homelessness into the momentum necessary to get into recovery, to resolve legal issues, to seek employment, to access health services and benefits, to reconnect with the community and to get off the streets. A very tall order for a three-day event.
