The Incarcerated Veterans Employment Program is operated by VVSD and funded through the Department of Labor Veteran Employment and Training Services. The program provides funding for short-term classroom training (either educational or vocational) and job placement assistance for potentially homeless veterans who are leaving prison. An in-reach specialist will meet with incarcerated veterans to assess their needs in addition to any employment barriers and limitations.

An employment case manager will conduct a comprehensive evaluation and assessment with interested candidates and create an Individual Employment Development Plan. It is our goal to Employment participants into the best program for them, taking into consideration their interests, values and abilities as well as disabilities. We have found that how a participant performs in our program will be indicative of how they will perform on the job.

All of our employment services include job search assistance and other supportive services (clothing, work material, transportation etc.) as needed to ensure job readiness and successful placements. Participants in the Incarcerated Veterans Employment Program will be eligible for the same opportunities afforded to other veterans who have utilized our services.
